Little Kiss Candies

Beijinho, meaning "little kiss" in Portuguese, is a beloved Brazilian confection. These creamy, sweet coconut balls are simple to make and are a staple at parties and celebrations, offering a delightful burst of flavor in every bite.

Ingredients

For the Beijinho

  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup shredded sweetened coconut, plus more for rolling
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

For Decoration

  • Whole cloves (optional)

Instructions

Make the Beijinho Mixture

  1. Combine sweetened condensed milk, butter, and shredded coconut in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and pulls away from the bottom of the pan, about 10-15 minutes.
  3. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Shape the Candies

  1. Grease your hands lightly with butter.
  2. Spoon small portions of the mixture (about 1 tablespoon each) and roll them into balls.
  3. Roll each ball in additional shredded coconut to coat.
  4. If desired, press a whole clove into the top of each beijinho for decoration.

Chill and Serve

  1. Place the formed beijinhos on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  2. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow them to firm up before serving.
